Citizens of Gloucester served and fought in every battle that our Army and Navy participated in. Men from Gloucester fought in Africa, Europe, Asia and in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Some were killed, some wounded, and a few were help prisoners of war by the enemy. Here are the names of those who served, as per the WWII Veterans Memorial book published in Summer, 2008.

There are a number of long-time Gloucester residents who served in WWII but were not drafted out of Gloucester. We would like to honor them as well.

Long-time Residents

Of the 5,660 men and women who served our country in WWII, 119 of them lost their lives to this conflict. We honor and thank them for their efforts.

If you know of a WWII Veteran who is not yet listed, please bring a copy of their discharge papers and a copy of them in their WWII Uniform to the Veterans Office on Emerson Avenue in Gloucester.
